Sand Dunes.jpg - SANDY SHORES: Frequent along lake or open sea, these shores offers a different habitat adequate for plant communities able to tolerate water and sandy soil with low nutrient content and exposed to the elements of wind and full sunshine. New, artificially made sand dunes are often dominated by pioneer ruderal species but natural sandy shores offer plants which are not commonly found in other habitats (e.g. Honkenya peploides).
